let me take you back

somehow the purpose of this blog got away from me, this was supposed to be a place to showcase all the crazy and wacky things i throw together in my spare time all for the sake of releasing my creative juices... so the next project i'm working on is a staff/walking stick/show piece.... i ordered a bunch of springbok and steenbok horns from africa, along with some badger toe bones, a large python vertebra, coyote tarsel bones and some north american porcupine quills from my new favorite website, necromance.com (give it a look, if your into macabre stuff like i am, you'll find a ton of cool shit to look at, obsess over and buy). so this staff, I need to find a fairly long branch but the top of the staff is going to be a springbok horn and i'm going carve and inlay the porcupine quills around the top of the staff. i'm sorta torn with this though cause i want to keep the theme of the staff african so i might order some african porcupine quills for the inlay. we'll see...... since this is probably going to be a show piece and not used for an actual walking stick the badger toes might make an appearance hanging from sinew where the horn meets the staff but then it might obscure the porcupine inlays.. again, i'll have to see how it looks...

here's a mock up of the project, i'm going to try to do this format with each idea i have
