I watched this awesome show about the Capuchin Catacombs the other night and I definitely want to see this sometime before I die...
The Catacombs located in Palermo, Italy, date back to 1599 when the local priests mummified a holy monk for all to see. From there it grew into the collection they have now until local authorities discontinued the practice in 1920 with the submission of Rosalia Lombardo, which the show was mainly based on, and the embalming process that was used to keep her looking so lifelike even today.
We've been planning a trip to Italy sometime this summer or next summer, so hopefully we can make this a stop...
