I took advantage of the break in the cold weather yesterday (51 degrees!) to finally start the paper mache on the base of the cabinet. I was waiting for warmer weather so I could paper mache out on the patio because I knew I would be a total slob and get the goo everywhere in the apartment. So I started around 11:30 and took maybe 3 breaks throughout the day and by 4:00 I was done. I still have to do the underside of the bottom shelf but I'm not to concerned with that yet since you can't even see it. I waited for an hour or so for the paper to dry just a bit before I started with the center branch idea I had. I just wanted to get it all together and up on the shelf last night so I'll have less to do in the coming weeks to finally finish it. But the center branch came out good, I was worried about the patina the branch I was using and the small branches for the birds to perch on wouldn't match up but its really close. At the end of the day I was so tired I just ended up taking the crappiest photos of the finished cabinet, I'll take better ones tonight. Photos below.
