curiosity cabinet update

Posted by Drew Versak in , ,

5 hours… yes, 5 hours it took me to do the brown paper bag layer on this cabinet.. usually I’ll do a little bit here and there during the week to get something done, but the thought of one more day with my hands in muck doing paper mache was just too much to bear so I knocked it all out yesterday. So now I can start with the twig trim and embellishments.. I’m not sure if I’m going to use the doors anymore. I liked the idea of the doors but it is a display cabinet and I don’t know about having to open it to see what’s inside. If I do decide to add the doors at a later date it won’t be hard at all so I’ll probably add them anyways. I’m just do tired of paper mache that I avoided the doors yesterday.. I gotta pick out a stain now to make the cabinet a bit darker. I bought battery operated light this weekend too so I might drill some holes in the back and push the lights though to they can illuminate the contents… I have to make something that will cover the light on the inside so you don’t see just the bulb, maybe a little box with the bottom cut out with vellum glued over the hole so light will still show though.. time to experiment! anyways... here's the newest shot of the cabinet...
