Homeless Art

Posted by Drew Versak in ,

This morning while rushing though the piss reeking hallways of the subway trying to get to work on time I saw in the trashcan a piece of cardboard that some of the homeless use to sleep on to stay warm at night. It wasn’t just a piece of cardboard but a piece of art. It had a pen drawn portrait of a homeless man that I see every day in the hallway drawn on it and I really wanted to take it out of the trash then and there but I was sorta embarrassed with the mass exodus of people behind me from the train. So the rest of the morning I was stressing out about it, I really wanted it, I thought it would be a really cool piece to have and I kept thinking of the guy sitting there having his portrait drawn while wasting the night away in the subway. So I decided to run back and see if it was still there and luckily for me it was! It seems someone else wanted it too because it was no longer in the trashcan but shoved between the trashcan and the wall kinda hidden. So I snatched it up and ran back to work with my prize =) Now I’m deciding on if I want to cut out the central part of the portrait and frame it or leave it as is. Picture below…
